Project Engineer – Water Resources
What You’ll Contribute
As a Project Engineer in the Environmental and Water Resources Group, you will lead technical tasks associated with a range of water resources projects across the State of Tennessee. The EWRG is a diverse 50+ person team looking for a project engineer with a passion for water resources. works on a variety of water, wastewater, and stormwater projects including modeling of distribution and collection systems, asset management, stream restoration, green infrastructure, and a range of facility designs.
A successful candidate for the Project Engineer position is team oriented, organized, and has strong technical skills. The candidate takes initiative and current on software, regulations, and technology.
Your Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership
- Act as a task lead on studies, reports, and design of water distribution systems, sewage collection, storage facilities, control vaults, pumping stations, booster stations, water and wastewater treatment, stormwater systems, and green infrastructure.
- Stay current on industry standards and regulations.
- If interested, opportunities will be available for client interaction and to train and mentor entry-level staff.
Communication and Management
- Effectively communicate project goals, options, and outcomes to all stakeholders.
- Develop work plans, schedules, and budgets for technical tasks.
- Understand and leverage our services for client needs.
Problem-Solving
- Anticipate project issues and advise clients on solutions.
- Provide recommendations for resolving issues effectively.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related field required.
- 5 – 10 years of progressively increasing responsibility experience in water resources including managing projects and proposal writing.
- Familiarity with hydraulic/hydrologic modeling of water distribution, wastewater, stormwater systems.
- Experience with aging and complex water and wastewater infrastructure design considerations in Tennessee.
- Experience in stormwater/water/wastewater infrastructure assessment, land planning, sustainability, design, and implementation in Tennessee.
- Proficient understanding of asset management and pipeline design hydraulics, inspection, condition assessment, and repair/rehabilitation design.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills associated with the following programs: Microsoft Word, Excel; AutoCAD and/or Revit, Bluebeam or other PDF software, and scheduling software, such as MS Project.
- Demonstrated ability to take the initiative to solve challenging problems.
- Self-directed and ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
- Mentoring and train new staff.
- State of Tennessee Professional Engineering License preferred.
