Senior Network Engineer
Role Overview:
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, support, and optimization of data center and remote office networks. This role ensures robust and scalable network infrastructure, working closely with cross-functional IT teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network engineering and a proven ability to lead technical initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain data center network infrastructure, including SD-WAN, load balancers, and wireless LAN controllers.
- Implement and support network systems while adhering to established standards and designs.
- Perform lifecycle management, ensuring stability and performance of production networks.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects and infrastructure project managers to align with business needs.
- Optimize network configurations and troubleshoot issues to ensure peak performance.
- Maintain detailed documentation, including network diagrams and configurations.
- Monitor and analyze network performance and resolve escalated incidents.
- Mentor junior team members, conduct training sessions, and share best practices.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for production environment support.
- Drive network innovation by researching and recommending emerging technologies.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 8+ years in network engineering, focusing on data center technologies (e.g., Cisco ACI, Nexus, SD-WAN).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems analysis, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and technologies (VPN, LAN, WAN, WLAN).
- Experience with VXLAN or Overlay Transport Virtualization (OTV).
- Strong troubleshooting skills in Layer 2 and Layer 3 environments.
- Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and Unified Call Manager (CUCM).
- Knowledge of network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
- Certifications: Cisco Professional certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE) preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with enterprise network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds).
- Knowledge of QoS implementation and multicast strategies.
- Familiarity with packet capture and analysis tools (e.g., NetFlow, IP SLA).
