IT and F&A Networking Groups: The Essentials
With the start of the New Year, many are looking to invest in the long term by establishing genuine relationships through the power of networking. This has been proven both beneficial and difficult when trying to propel your career forward, particularly in an era where most communication is held online. None the less, like-minded professionals have banded together to form national and local groups that will build connections within various industries.
The Intersect Group’s recruiters state these groups are thriving in cities such as Atlanta and Dallas, where many notable businesses reside. For example, the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) offers its members over 30 societies that cater to their specific networking needs as well as provides trainings, events, and resources to the public. Similarly, the Dallas Chapter of Financial Executives Networking Group (FENG) hosts a monthly meeting in which members are able to get together casually, network, and share updates on leads. They request that all members come prepared with a polished introduction along with resumes and business cards.
Other organizations that are beneficial for IT and finance and accounting professionals to join include:
American Institute of CPA’s (AICPA)
Women in Technology International (WITI)
Financial Executives International (FEI)
Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)
