Accounting Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily financial transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.

  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.

  • Coordinate and support external audits, including preparation of required reports and documentation.

  • Manage capital loan note payables, tracking interest expenses, principal payments, and accrued interest.

  • Review loan portfolio to ensure accurate reconciliation of principal balances, interest, and fees with subledgers.

  • Perform monthly employee benefits reconciliation and review prepaids, fixed assets, and accounts payable for accuracy.

  • Reconcile third-party loan servicing accounts and review associated invoices.

  • Initiate and review internal and external fund transfers to ensure proper documentation and approvals.

  • Post monthly statistical journal entries and ensure alignment with financial reports.

  • Assist in financial forecasting and analysis based on current and projected financial data.

  • Develop and implement internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

  • Provide training, mentoring, and support to accounting staff to improve team performance and workflow efficiencies.

  • Perform additional duties and ad hoc projects as assigned to support organizational financial health.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 4-6 years of accounting experience, including 1-2 years in a management role.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and bookkeeping practices.

  • 2+ years of experience with grants and grant management; strong expertise in handling grant-related accounting.

  • 2+ years of non-profit accounting experience, including implementation and oversight of internal controls.

  • Proficiency with accounting ERP systems (experience with Sage Intacct is a plus).

  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and other functions).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to work effectively in a remote setting, maintaining productivity and meeting deadlines.
