Job Description: Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our client’s team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of weekly payrolls, maintaining payroll records, and resolving any payroll-related issues. This role involves collaboration with multiple departments, ensuring proper deductions, and supporting audit processes. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process assigned weekly payrolls accurately and on time.

  • Enter and verify employee time through various methods, including file uploads, spreadsheets, and manual entry.

  • Balance payroll files and audit reports to ensure accuracy.

  • Identify and resolve payroll issues in a timely manner.

  • Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures, and reporting any needed changes.

  • Coordinate efforts with payroll, HR, and other departments to ensure accurate employee data management.

  • Ensure proper deductions for payroll taxes, benefits, wage garnishments, and other items.

  • Assist in preparing Certified Payrolls and ensure proper governance of payroll data.

  • Support internal and external audits by providing payroll-related documents and reports.

Requirements:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent; College preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in a high-volume, multi-state payroll environment.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • High proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Intermediate Excel.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
