Leave/ Benefits Specialist

The Intersect Group is in search of a Contract to Hire, Leave and Benefits Specialist. This HR role is primarily responsible for managing employee leave requests, including Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) compliance, alongside administering various employee benefits like health insurance, retirement plans, and other compensation packages, ensuring accurate enrollment and addressing employee inquiries regarding both leave policies and benefit options.

Key responsibilities of a Leave and Benefits Specialist:

  • Leave Administration:
  • Processing and tracking all leave requests (sick leave, vacation, FMLA, personal leave)
  • Verifying eligibility for leave based on company policy and applicable laws
  • Communicating with employees regarding leave balances and usage
  • Maintaining accurate leave records and documentation
  • Coordinating with managers on employee absences and leave approvals
  • Benefits Administration:
  • Enrolling new employees in benefit plans during onboarding
  • Managing benefit changes due to life events (marriage, birth, etc.)
  • Answering employee questions regarding benefit plans and coverage options
  • Processing benefit claims and resolving issues with insurance providers
  • Conducting open enrollment meetings and providing information on plan changes
  • Compliance:
  • Staying updated on federal and state regulations regarding leave and benefits (FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA)
  • Ensuring compliance with all benefit plan requirements
  • Auditing benefit records for accuracy
  • Data Management:
  • Maintaining employee benefits information in HR systems
  • Generating reports on leave usage and benefit costs

    Required Skills:

    • Strong understanding of employee benefits and leave laws
    • Excellent communication skills to answer employee questions and explain complex policies
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple leave requests and benefit enrollments
    • Must have Expert experience in Work Day ERP software, with the ability to teach and train
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive employee information
    • Bachelor's degree required
    • 2-3 years’ experience
