Senior Accountant

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in general ledger accounting and financial analysis. This role focuses on reviewing and analyzing financial data, managing accruals, variance analysis, and collaborating with operational teams to ensure accuracy and compliance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Management: Review and analyze the accrual basis general ledger for accuracy and reasonableness. Book journal entries and review tenant ledger adjustments.
  • Financial Reconciliations: Prepare monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Variance Analysis: Analyze financial statements, identify significant variances, and provide detailed commentary on discrepancies.
  • Operations Collaboration: Serve as a liaison to property managers, providing guidance on reclassifications, billing adjustments, and financial processes. Assist in training operational teams on financial protocols.
  • Close Processes: Manage month-end and year-end close activities, focusing on accruals and balance sheet reviews.
  • Special Projects: Handle ad hoc requests, prepare analysis schedules, and support complex financial projects.
  • Budgeting Support: Collaborate with FP&A teams to assist with budgeting and financial planning processes.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Oversee bank reconciliations, letters of credit, and related tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • At least 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on general ledger and financial analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of accrual-based accounting principles, P&L statements, and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency in financial reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across departments and train operational teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high work volumes and prioritize tasks.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting lease agreements.
  • Experience collaborating with FP&A teams on budgeting and forecasting.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software systems.
