SQL Database Administrator (DBA) – Azure Cloud

As an SQL DBA, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing database performance, ensuring high availability, and leading cloud migrations with a focus on Azure. You will work closely with development teams to review and refine SQL queries, provide recommendations for indexing and data structure improvements, and maintain enterprise-level SQL Server environments. Your expertise in automation, security best practices, and cloud infrastructure will help shape the organization’s data strategy and scalability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead database migrations and optimize SQL Server environments for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting using SQL Profiler, Performance Monitor, and other monitoring tools.
- Design and implement clustering, replication, and virtualization strategies for enterprise database systems.
- Collaborate with developers to review SQL code, improve query efficiency, and enhance database structures.
- Administer and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring security, availability, and optimal performance.
- Leverage Azure services such as Virtual Machines, Functions, and Active Directory to support cloud-based database solutions.
- Automate deployments and infrastructure management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
- Apply security best practices to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a SQL DBA, with expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and database administration.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server HA/DR strategies, replication, and enterprise-level database solutions.
- Proficiency in Azure cloud computing, including Virtual Machines, Functions, and Active Directory.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and database security best practices.
- Experience with automation tools and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for cloud environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to provide technical recommendations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and provide database insights.
